Virtual Design Manager
With more than 13 years of construction experience, Garrett Carmichael leads Myers & Chapman's Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) efforts, bringing a unique blend of field knowledge, design expertise, and technical innovation to the project delivery process. His background provides valuable insight, allowing him to identify constructability challenges early, strengthen trade coordination, and help project teams make informed decisions long before work begins.
Garrett leverages 3D modeling and BIM coordination to improve communication, reduce risk, and create greater alignment between design and construction teams. His practical understanding of field operations enables him to bridge the gap between the digital model and the jobsite, helping teams minimize conflicts, reduce rework, and improve project outcomes.
Beyond project coordination, Garrett is focused on advancing the company's VDC capabilities through training, process development, and technology implementation. He works closely with project teams and field staff to expand model adoption, enhance workflows, and drive continuous improvement across the organization.
Garrett holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Design from Appalachian State University.
Garrett resides in Lincolnton, North Carolina, with his wife and two daughters. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and bringing friends and family together around the grill and smoker.
