A seasoned construction leader with more than 30 years of experience, Derek Carpenter drives Myers & Chapman's most strategic and high-value opportunities. Since joining the company in 2003, he has contributed to its growth through roles of increasing responsibility, helping shape a disciplined and solutions-driven approach to planning and early-phase project development.

Derek works closely with clients and stakeholders to navigate complex decisions, align priorities, and create a strong foundation for project success. His collaborative approach supports effective communication across teams while ensuring each project reflects the client's goals, budget, and long-term vision.

He has played a key role in Myers & Chapman's expansion into new markets while helping strengthen the company's expertise in charter school projects. Recognized for his relationship-driven approach and understanding of community priorities, Derek now leads the company's growth efforts in the Raleigh region and serves as a trusted resource for clients throughout the Triangle.

Derek is also active in the industry, currently serving on the DBIA Southeast Region's University Relations Committee at Clemson. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Science and Management from Clemson University, an MBA from Queens University's McColl School of Business, and is a licensed General Contractor in North Carolina.

Derek lives in Wesley Chapel with his family and two dogs.  A family of animal lovers, they are proud foster dog parents.  Derek enjoys spending time with his family, on his bike, and getting laps in the water.
